Tokyo is too hot, so what should we do? The next part of our trip is a visit to the zoo. The lions are so lazy! This is our second time visiting, but the first time was during winter. The most exciting part of this trip was our son's first zoo experience, so we brought him to Asahiyama Zoo.

Going to the Zoo

By Car:

  • Take National Route 39 (Dai 2 Asahikawa Bypass) heading northeast from Asahikawa Station.

  • Continue on Route 39 for about 10 minutes until you reach the intersection with Asahiyama Park Road (Asahiyama Koen Dori).

  • Turn right onto Asahiyama Koen Dori and follow the signs to Asahikawa Zoo.

By Public Transportation:

  • Bus: Take the Asahikawa Denki Kido bus from Asahikawa Station (bus stop number 7) bound for Asahiyama Zoo (Asahiyama Dobutsuen). The journey takes approximately 30 minutes.

  • Taxi: Taxis are also available from Asahikawa Station and will take around 15 minutes to reach Asahiyama Zoo, depending on traffic.
