What is the Shirakawago Light-Up Event?

Shirakawago is a small, historic village known for its unique Gassho-zukuri farmhouses, which feature steep thatched roofs designed to shed heavy snow. While the village is stunning year-round, the annual Light-Up event is special. For a few select nights during winter, the village is lit up after dark, casting a warm glow on the snowy landscape and offering a picturesque view of the illuminated houses reflected on nearby ponds and rice fields.
