Tokyo Foodie Itinerary: A Few Things to Keep In Mind

Tokyo is a paradise for food lovers, offering a rich tapestry of dining experiences from traditional Japanese cuisine to cutting-edge gastronomy. This itinerary highlights some of the city’s most beloved food spots, ensuring you get a taste of Tokyo’s diverse and delectable offerings.

7:45 am: Tsukiji Market

Start your day early at Tsukiji Market, Tokyo’s famous seafood market. Although the inner wholesale market has moved to Toyosu, the outer market remains a bustling hub of fresh seafood, produce, and street food. Arrive early to experience the vibrant atmosphere and sample some of the freshest sushi and sashimi.

Directions: Tsukiji Market is accessible via Tsukiji Station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line). Upon exiting the station, head towards the market area, which is just a short walk away. Look for the bustling market streets and follow the signs pointing towards the outer market section.

9:00 am: Turret Coffee, Tsukiji

After exploring Tsukiji Market, make your way to Turret Coffee, a quaint café renowned for its expertly brewed coffee. This charming spot offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for a morning pick-me-up. Enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee or a latte and take a moment to relax.

Directions: Turret Coffee is located a short walk from Tsukiji Market. From the market, head west on Tsukiji Outer Market Street, then turn right onto Harumi Street. Turret Coffee will be on your left side, identifiable by its distinctive turret-shaped sign.

10:00 am: Ginza Kimuraya, Ginza

Next, head to Ginza to visit Ginza Kimuraya, a historic bakery known for its traditional Japanese bakery items, including the famous melon bread (melon pan). Enjoy a sweet treat in this upscale district and take in the refined atmosphere of Ginza.

Directions: To get to Ginza Kimuraya, take the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line from Tsukiji Station to Ginza Station. Take Exit A3, and Ginza Kimuraya is a short walk from the station, located on the main street of Ginza.

10:30 am: Mitsukoshi Food Hall, Ginza

Just a short walk from Ginza Kimuraya, the Mitsukoshi Food Hall offers a gourmet experience with a vast selection of high-quality foods. This food hall is perfect for exploring and sampling from premium Japanese ingredients to prepared foods.

Directions: Mitsukoshi Department Store is located in the heart of Ginza. From Ginza Kimuraya, walk south along the main street of Ginza until you reach the Mitsukoshi Department Store. The food hall is located in the basement level of the store.

11:30 am: Seirinkan, Nakameguro

Travel to Nakameguro for lunch at Seirinkan, an artisanal pizzeria famous for its wood-fired pizzas. The restaurant offers a cozy and relaxed environment, perfect for enjoying a delicious and well-crafted pizza.

Directions: To reach Seirinkan, take the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line from Ginza Station to Nakameguro Station. Exit from Nakameguro Station via the East Exit and walk along the Meguro River. Seirinkan will be on your right side after a short walk.

2:00 pm: Onibus Coffee, Nakameguro

After lunch, head to Onibus Coffee, a beloved café known for its specialty coffee. Enjoy a cup of expertly brewed coffee in a laid-back setting, perfect for a mid-afternoon break.

Directions: Onibus Coffee is located near Seirinkan. From the pizzeria, head back towards Nakameguro Station and turn left onto Yamate Dori. Onibus Coffee will be on the right side, within walking distance from the station.

3:00 pm: Japanese Ice Ouca, Ebisu

Indulge in a refreshing dessert at Japanese Ice Ouca in Ebisu. Known for its high-quality and innovative ice creams, this spot is perfect for a sweet afternoon treat.

Directions: To get to Japanese Ice Ouca, take the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line from Nakameguro Station to Ebisu Station. Exit via the West Exit, and walk towards the Ebisu Garden Place. Japanese Ice Ouca is located in the nearby shopping area.

Directions: The New York Bar is located in the Park Hyatt Tokyo, accessible via the JR Yamanote Line from Shinjuku Station. Take the West Exit from the station and follow the signs to the Park Hyatt Tokyo. The bar is on the hotel's top floor and offers panoramic city views.
